How to throw an aloha bridal shower

how to throw an aloha bridal showerOne of our favourite bridal shower trends this year is an aloha themed bridal shower. This fun theme will help your shower guests feel like they’ve escaped on a tropical getaway and the good news for you is that the decorating is easy, with pineapple and flamingo everything available in virtually every store right now.

And I have to confess something….

I absolutely LOVE this theme because I’m literally obsessed with anything pineapple/palm tree/palm frond/flamingo/beach. Seriously…if I see any item with one of these things on it, it’s coming home with me.

But my personal obsessions aside, here’s how YOU can host a perfect aloha bridal shower:

First and foremost, you want to find the perfect aloha bridal shower invitation. Lucky for you, we have a bunch of cute designs in our Etsy shop you can check out here.

There are so many cute sayings to use, like:

    • “He had her at aloha”
    • “Let’s party like a pineapple and celebrate {bride’s name} upcoming wedding with an aloha bridal shower…”
    • “Help {bride’s name} say ‘aloha’ to married life! Join us for a bridal shower on…”
  • “Tropic like it’s hot! Join us for a bridal shower honoring…”

Colors for an aloha bridal shower

The color possibilities are endless for an aloha bridal shower! We particularly love:

    • Mint and pink
    • Hot pink and orange with a pop of turquoise
    • Monotone green – think natural greens you would find in palm fronds and tropical greenery (emerald green, dark green and lime green) and make them pop against white backgrounds.
  • Green , yellow and gold (take a hint from pineapples for some inspiration!)

Aloha bridal shower decorations

I think the easiest part of an aloha bridal shower are the decorations! Our favorite ideas include:

  • Fresh, lush tropical greenery (or fake ones, too!) – Hit up a local florist and order in some fresh palm fronds, tropical leafy plants and tropical flowers like protea, orchids and birds of paradise. Use as centerpieces and decor throughout the venue.
  • Fresh pineapples galore – Use fresh pineapples in a variety of ways for your decor. Spray paint them in vibrant colours or metallic gold (this post by Best Friends for Frosting has some easy-to-follow spray paint instructions).
  • Real pineapples as a ‘vase’ to put tropical floral arrangements in (this tutorial from Amore & Vita’s Shay Mitchell has some great tips on how to do this!)

Pineapple eeeeerything

I mean, how can you say ‘no’ to anything with pineapples on it? There are so many fun decor and tableware products out there right now with this fun fruit on it that you can literally incorporate pineapples into everything. We love these pineapple ideas:

Palm fronds, palm fronds and more palm fronds

We love palm fronds for a fun decoration! As mentioned above, fresh palm fronds make for great additions to floral arrangements or just in a single vase as well. But it doesn’t have to stop there! We love these ideas as well (I mean, HELLO to those frond leaf placemats, amirite?):

Flamingo power!

You had to know that I was going to endorse pink flamingo EVERYTHING! Plus, flamingos are so trendy this summer, they’re pretty much everywhere you look. Finding cute flamingo decoration will NOT be a problem!  Add these cute ideas in for a punch of bright pink colour to go with your other tropical decor:

Aloha bridal shower food and drink ideas

Again, there’s so many great food and drink ideas for an aloha bridal shower! Check out my Aloha bridal shower board on Pinterest for some of the following recipes:

    • Vibrant fresh fruit platters
    • Tropical dessert buffet (think specially made sugar cookies or decorate macarons)
    • Tropical salad (green salad with crunchy noodles, mandarin oranges, sesame seeds, chicken, and a sesame ginger dressing)
    • Ginger sesame chicken skewers
    • Coconut shrimp
    • Brie with mango chutney
    • Fish taco station
  • Turkey lettuce wraps

For drinks, have a fun mai tai or pina colada station where your guests can mix their own drinks! Or, do a variety of different juices and make a fun mimosa bar station. Mix in some fun drinkware and tropical stir sticks, and your guests will love this interactive drink station! Even fun pineapple shaped ice cubes would add a fun touch to this.

We hope you enjoyed our ideas for throwing an aloha themed bridal shower! And of course, these ideas don’t have to end here – they’re also great for a tropical themed birthday party or retirement party, too!
